Hong Kong vaccination programmeThe HKSAR Government had procured sufficient doses of vaccines for the entire population of Hong Kong. The first batch is expected to be delivered to Hong Kong in January 2021 the earliest. Work has already begun to enable the emergency use of vaccines proven to be safe and effective. Members of the public will be able to receive the vaccines on a voluntary basis free of charge.Our Government also launched a website to facilitate public downloading of their own electronic testing record through the COVID-19 Electronic Testing Record System. Electronic Vaccination Record will also be added to the system later. |

CE’s article on combating the virusIn her monthly article, the Chief Executive, Mrs Carrie Lam, remarked that the new wave of epidemic that began in late November appeared to have reached its peak in mid-December and the number of daily confirmed cases has already shown a downward trend.To prevent community spreading, in addition to tightening social distancing measures, susceptible community are also subject to compulsory testing and our Government has made full use of the testing capacity of private laboratories to extend the scale and scope of virus tests, together with enhanced law enforcement actions. |

Quarantine requirement to prevent imported casesTo strengthen prevention of imported cases, our Government further tightened the quarantine arrangements for arriving travelers. All persons who have stayed in places outside China on the day of arrival at Hong Kong or during the 21 days before that day are required to undergo compulsory quarantine for 21 days in designated quarantine hotels.Due to the discovery of the new virus variant with high transmissibility, all persons who have stayed in the United Kingdom and South Africa for more than two hours would not be allowed to board a flight to Hong Kong. Robot "Rice" at your COVID-safe serviceHong Kong continues to deploy innovation and technology in tackling the challenges of COVID. Watch how cute robot "Rice", only 76 cm tall, and its team mates deliver food and documents, and disinfect places in a safe, contactless and socially distanced manner. Developed in Hong Kong, they are already at work in several local quarantine hotels. |
